My enriching Experience in Valletta (Malta)

Updated: Aug 8

By Vera Moretti.

I decided to go to Malta and participate in this unforgettable experience to improve my communication skills, which are essential for my daily work as a business developer. I often organize meetings with people from other countries and need to enhance my performance. Also, I need to upgrade my IELTS level from B2 to C1 and possibly, a C2.

Before I arrived in Malta, I had several briefing meetings with Solis Company, specifically with Ana Maria Solis. She meticulously prepared me and my friends for this new adventure. Ana Maria provided detailed explanations about the project activities, leisure activities, how the bus system works, our accommodation in Valletta, information about the school and its premises, how to reach the school, medical assistance, and our first day at Easy School of Languages. She also gave us instructions on how to complete the placement test before our departure and handled all the details about our flight.

She explained the Agreement for the Erasmus+ Individual Mobility on Adult Education. The type of mobility involved was a training course: Intensive English (20 GE + 10 group conversation lessons weekly). I signed the Education Agreement with Solis Srl. Upon my arrival at the school, the welcoming atmosphere, kind teachers, and excellent hosting services exceeded my expectations.

During my two-week stay in Valletta, I had the incredible opportunity to enhance my English language skills at Easy School of Languages (EasySL). This experience was academically enriching and culturally rewarding, offering a comprehensive language learning journey tailored to adult learners.

The school's communicative approach to teaching made learning both effective and enjoyable. Our classes followed the National Geographic Outcomes Course, the latest edition that includes state-of-the-art online resources through its Spark platform. This course empowered us to express ourselves confidently in English, enhancing our ability to engage in natural conversations.

Using engaging National Geographic content, the lessons were also captivating and focused on the preparation for real-world interactions and developing essential life and work skills. I received general English classes in the morning. I also attended the 90-minute daily intensive English skills conversation classes. These sessions were instrumental in boosting my language proficiency, covering all four essential skills—reading, writing, listening, and speaking. We engaged in discussions, debates, and presentations on various cultural and political topics, which significantly enhanced our understanding and communication abilities. I also improved my performance in public speaking in English and learned to avoid choking.

One of the highlights of the intensive classes was the approach that not only improved our English but also made us more informed about the history of Malta. Additionally, I met people of different ages from various countries and felt part of the group.

My time in Valletta was not just about studying. I had a lot of fun exploring the city's beauty and history. The teachers guided us outside the classroom to enjoy the wonders of Valletta, enriching our cultural experience. These excursions allowed us to see the historical landmarks and immerse ourselves in the local culture.

In addition to traditional teaching methods, the teachers used advanced technological tools to facilitate learning. These tools made the lessons more interactive and engaging, enhancing our overall educational experience.

The teacher organized a farewell party for me on my last day at school. We went to the seaside with his guitar and sang songs from our different countries, which I appreciated very much. I was the oldest in the group, and the youngest was only 20, but I never felt old. Everyone in the group made an effort to make me feel comfortable. I felt that, despite coming from different nations, we were united by our shared experience, thanks to this project.

I am immensely thankful to Ana Maria Solis, who organized all activities and provided comprehensive explanations throughout my stay. Her support, from pre-departure guidance to on-site assistance, ensured a seamless and enriching experience in Valletta.

One of the most rewarding aspects of my stay was upgrading my English proficiency from level B2 to C1. This significant improvement is a testament to the high-quality instruction and immersive learning environment at EasySL.

In conclusion, my time at Easy School of Languages in Valletta was a transformative experience.

The innovative teaching methods and cultural excursions provided a rich and engaging learning environment. I highly recommend EasySL to anyone looking to improve their English skills while enjoying the beautiful and historic city of Valletta. I would love to repeat this experience.
